They have a bunch of different ones for different needs. The cheaper options have no ethernet or SD card reader and 1 HDMI while more expensive ones are larger, cost more, but have more ports.

don't these only have so much bandwidth? no way i can turn one 10Gbps usb c connection into 4 and a 4k 60hz connection.

You're correct. It only has 10gbps total bandwidth, and if you connect a 4k 60hz monitor, that uses half of the bandwidth (2 of the 4 lanes), leaving 5gbps for the rest of the ports.
