Why's that? I'm not too familiar with volleyballs but the reviews are good overall?

I also prefer and own a Molten, but I have absolutely no qualms with using the standard Tachikara ball. Sometimes the ladies in our group don't like the Molten and we use this instead. I kind of consider Tachikara to be the standard... But do find the Molten to be more satisfying.

It's fine, I'll play with any vb. Someone always has a molten so they prefer that over mine back when I brought a Techikara. Now I usually just use it for beach or grass lol

It's because Molten is the official ball used for schools and club ball. You'll have people bringing Mikasa v200w balls ($99) to open gyms. Earlier this year, I went to a club team tryout and they used these tachi balls. I wanted to leave immediately but played it out. The balls themselves are fine, but what club in their right mind would practice with a ball that isn't going to be at any of the local events or tournaments......

Tachikara balls are excellent, but $38 is just an ok price. My daughter's 13U team coach swears by them. NFHS Approved: Suitable for high school competitions. The only difference between Old NFHS and New NFHS is logo placement.

That's the "Old NHFS". These are the "New NHFS". Is there a difference? A couple of them are cheaper yes, but was unsure if there was a reason they were cheaper.

My 12 year old granddaughter is playing middle school volleyball. Would this be a good volleyball to get for her to practice with at home.

Sure, it is a good ball. Moltens are harder, Tachikara are softer a bit, also more control.

The price is nothing special though.
