But back on track: I have a Mr. Coffee one-switch-only model. The good news is you can use it with a wi-fi plug for automation. So you could set up an automatic timer to come on and brew with Alexa, etc.
The bad news is that if you forget to turn it off, it stays on.
They say "one-touch button", but it is a flip switch, not a button. You don't simply touch it, and it does not turn off by itself automatically.
That is why I prefer paper filters. It is hard to clean the remnants of the grounds completely out of permanent ones while they are wet. And I never have time for the grounds to dry out.
I empty grounds as the step before adding fresh coffee. Not as the last step after brewing when still very hot.
