This doesn't make sense. If one- and two-generation old PCs sell for as much, how are you expecting a current brand new one not cost more? Sounds like the refurbs you saw are overpriced.

Purchased it 2 days ago from Costco. So far very satisfied.

Pros:
Price is good. Same product is being sold from Walmart with 1299.
B860M DS3H motherboard is great.
Tested the installed ssd(NVMe gen5). Read and write is about 5g.
Enough ram(32g) and ssd(2t)
Enough USB ports.

Cons:
No hdd bays. Hard to add additional hdds.(however, it has additional NVMe gen4 slot)
Bad customer service reputation. (Probably Costco cqn cover it)
Only 1 HDMI. I have KVM which accepts only HDMI, so I needed to purchase DP to HDMI cable for dual monitors. Fortunately, the DP ports support DP++ and my KVM has separate power, the passive DP to HDMI cable works.
The fans themselves are quiet, but the humming sound coming from inside the PC is quite annoying.
2 PCIe slots but one of them is covered by the graphic card so useless.

Got it during the $849 holiday sale. Mine came with a full sized MSI PRO B860-P WIFI ATX motherboard. It was my kiddos first gaming PC and he's very content with it for what he does.
