The govee ones were recalled due to them having WiFi control. I'm sure some people turned them on remotely or left them on next to curtains or something that could catch fire. Every device has risks. I've got the govee one and love it. Use it all the time and it works great with zero issues. But it has the same risks as any heater just with the added potential of activstijg remotely and not remembering you covered it with a towel.

I feel like space heaters are one of those things you should avoid buying cheap, unknown Chinese brands for.

Somebody is having fun coming up with all these fake Chinese brand names.
It's all the same product under 10 different names.

Please use established brands for Heaters. (or electrical component with excessive fire hazard potential)

Do these get "orange" like in the pics? I bought the 25" Dreo a week ago for $80 and just not sure it's working properly.

Mine doesn't glow and doesn't get very hot. You can Def put your hand on the front of it on high heat.

This one looks like it has a thermostat that would keep a room at set temp but reviews say it just changes from high heat to low heat when it hits the set point so it doesn't quite work like you would think...

I think we are so conditioned to register the orange glow when using the hair dryer. Both devices draw approximately 1500W at peak settings. The difference is the volume of conductive windings which are not comparable. In this instinct, the heater is equipped with ceramic core. This is by design for safety and their enviromental application.

I like heaters with mechanical buttons so I can control them with wifi plug.

Agreed on taking care for ensuring safety as I had the Govee brand which I actually like and even that one was recalled due to fire hazard.
I wished I didn't get rid of mine. It was an issue with the app, not the heater itself

I bought a cheap Chinese space heater similar to this and it said "for your garage" too and there's no way that would even come close to heating my garage. I have it at work and it barely warms up my mini cubicle. And I make sure I unplug it over night and monitor the plug temperature during the day. No way would I let one of these run unsupervised or overnight.
I use an olive filled delonghi when I actually want to warm my garage up. I'll plug it in and next day it's nice and warm. but if im just doing something small like working on something in an area, I'll use a little forced air heater. works good. - that said, I have 20 inches of cellulose in ceilings, and in the walls and its shared to house, so yeah, its not bad loss of air like most garages.

The issue I have is that once it turns off. I can't turn it back on with a plug

Sounds like they need a build in camera and smoke detector

I agree it's a 1500w fire hazard
Unless claiming fire insurance is the goal. But should only consider that if you don't have any neighbor sharing the a wall.
