"Shovelware?" One of the most highly played, longest lasting, and respected franchises in PC gaming? LOL...okay.

Even if you had zero desire to play any Civ game....it certainly ain't SHoVeLwArE by any measure.

At this exact moment on Steam more than twice as many people are playing Civ 5 than Civ 7. Civ 3 also has double the player count of 4. Each game has its own specific fans. 5 is my personal favorite simply because it's the first one I played so I have the most hours in it. I LAN'd 6 a bit as well but it never hit the same for me. I also used to LAN Railroads! during college so I have lots of fun memories of that game. Pirates! is also fantastic. This is an incredible collection if you've never played any of these games before.

Are you suggesting there are people with steam accounts that don't have at least some version of civs 345 and 6? 😆
I actually don't. But trying to get into the franchise. Seems interesting but I mostly have been playing single players like rpgs and jrpgs. I just got civ 7 earlier this month. Is that a good place to start or I should start with the earlier version?

There's 5 different generations of Civilization in this bundle. Would anyone want to go back and play earlier iterations?
Yes they would

The best civ is civ 2, IMO

I've played at least 200 hours of each Civ game, since Civ 3 (excluding the newest one) and I've never found myself going back to the older ones. I know that Civ V in particular has some loyalists, but I can't imagine someone needing to own all the games in the series.

That having been said, I think Sid Meier's Railroads is a lot of fun and frequently overlooked. It's a really fun building/simulation game.
I as going to say, this pack is a giant waste of time, both sarcastically and truthfully because, you will be spending A LOT of time on each game

Sid Meier's Pirates! is really simple, but surprisingly fun and addicting gameplay imo. Not turned based, but you control and upgrade your ship, crew, and items while plundering the Caribbean.

Yes. Civilization didn't really "improve" over time. Each game just had a different flavor, particularly 5 and up.
I frequently play with all of the graphics turned down. The graphics don't really matter. I was literally playing civ 6 yesterday.
Also; they are re-releasing a lot of these games on mobile and they are fairly popular. Only real issue is that Civ is pretty complex and doesn't work great on a small phone screen. Really more of a iPad game

CIVII was one of my first computer games. Spent so many hours on it. I wish it was in the pack. CIV4 is probably my fave now.

I haven't played Civ 7, but it has a lot of Civ fans upset over the way they changed the game. Also, generally the games mature over multiple years, expansions, and other DLC, which seems to be mostly included here for the older versions of the game, whereas Civ 7 is pretty new and has yet to release any major expansions.

My personal favorite is Civ 6, it's got Sean Bean as the narrator, and a lot of fun game options and civs/leaders. Not sure what one is best to start with though.

All personal preference I think. Civ3 is my personal fave in the whole of the franchise and Civ4 is close behind. When they switched to hex maps in 5 and removed the unit stacks, something was lost for me and I quit having most of the fun I'd previously been having. I still bought 5 and 6 (and will get 7 when there's a complete/gold/goty edition) but they aren't nearly as good as the older iterations for me.

Civ 5 is the best out of this lineup. I have maybe 300 hours in that one. I've played Civ 2, 3, and 4, but prefer 5 the most. From the gameplay I've seen of Civ 6 and 7, I'm just not interested in those. They need to do better marketing from what old Civ players actually want, instead of forcing new, undesirable things into the game.
Always check the gameplay on YouTube before you buy a game, some games can look pretty, but their gameplay turns out to be awful.
