This Lenovo Legion 5i stands out as a high refresh OLED gaming laptop with strong performance and a gorgeous screen. The RTX 5070 and Ultra 7 255HX should handle games well, and the 1TB storage is a nice step up from cheaper Lenovo deals. The main drawback is the 16GB memory configuration, which feels light at this price, though it is a single stick with two slots and room for a second NVMe, so upgrading is straightforward. A solid option if you value the display and GPU more than out of the box memory.

Common Questions (5)

  • For heavy multitasking or lots of Chrome tabs, 32GB can make a noticeable difference, while 16GB is enough for many everyday and gaming uses. The upgrade is estimated at about $150-$178 for an extra stick, so it can be worth budgeting for if you want to avoid later regret.

  • A Lenovo deal with an RTX 5060 and 32GB RAM was mentioned at around $900, and the 5060 and 5070 mobile GPUs were said to benchmark very similarly with the same VRAM. That makes the cheaper model worth comparing if RAM matters more than the GPU bump.

  • Yes. The laptop uses a single 16GB stick, has two RAM slots, and is described as easy to open with 8 screws, so adding another stick to reach 32GB is straightforward. It also has room for a second NVMe SSD.

  • The 15.1-inch 1600p 165Hz OLED panel is described as gorgeous, and the RTX 5070 configuration is reported to run games well. One buyer also said it handled every game they threw at it without issues.

  • One reported defect involved random blue-screen crashes, including after a replacement unit. That suggests checking the laptop thoroughly on arrival and during the return window.

I often have upwards of 100 Chrome tabs open. My 16 GB laptop does not like this. My 32 GB laptop has no problem with it. The specs are too good on this machine for them to have cheaped out on the RAM.
wait until he learns the price of ram lol

That puts you in the market for a different laptop. Wild that you need 100 tabs open. Not arguing that 32GB should be standard, but it isn't as necessary as it is made out to be to the majority of users.

Ideally a 12GB VRAM like the 5070ti should have been standard on these mobile cards starting with the 5060 and up imo. The memory upgrade for this laptop to 32GB should run about $150 in the current economy, while a 5070ti upgrade runs about $400 for the next model up. Quick research shows it has 2 slots and the 16gb should be a single stick.

The 5060 deal might be the better choice for many as its $300 cheaper, has a 8gb 5060, 16gb like this one but only a 512gb nvme.
nVIDIA sets the VRAM size, not Lenovo. They have been upping the VRAM on cards- it was only a few years ago that cards like this came with less. I know how much VRAM costs now (and in the future), and it will be skyrocketing.

I picked this up, 16gb should be plenty for my uses. I Also tab hoard but have never run out of RAM in my 16gb Asus 2060MaxQ Asus Zephyrus G14. Hoping that this will let me game well before the prices start rocketing up before the AI Boom maxes and crashes hard.
Love my 2022 g14 🙏

I bought this laptop back in October for around the same price. Great so far, screen is gorgeous, runs any game I throw at it.

Now take note I say "October", so after purchasing the laptop I bought another 16gb stick of ram and 1tb SSD for $50 each, lol. You won't ever see those prices again so just be careful. If the site has some upgrade options I would shell out for the 32. You'll have severe buyers remorse otherwise.
Did you manage to be one of the lucky few who this laptop didn't randomly crash on? I got a defective unit, replaced with a new one that had the same defect. Random blue screen crashes. Never going back to Lenovo Legions.

$50 for 16gb ram. So jealous. I got in on the $950 deal a couple of days ago. This has better GPU and 1TB. But I mostly use for productivity so not worried about a better GPU.

That is really dumb. You can't even see what any of them are. You have a real problem.
