Metallica at their peak. Went downhill from here unless you're into Bob Seger covers.

Bummer. I will always wonder why they won't do a remix and officially re-release it. Like they have that ultra deluxe version on Spotify with hours of demos and riff tapes, but the main mix still lacks the necessary Newsted

I believe the answer is at least partly because Lars is a jackass.

I even heard Robert Trujillo himself talk about how refreshing the Black Album was as a fellow bassist (after Justice's weak bass). Talk about calling out your own bandmate in public on XM...made me chuckle

Refreshing in what sense? As a listener of the album?

Not liking anything past this album is just gatekeeper trendy behavior. The black album is a 10/10 album from a songwriting/production standpoint and if you disagree you know nothing about music. I'll take the black album over pretty much any Megadeth album. In fact, Justice blows the new Megadeth album out of the water 38 years later
I agree with you on the production and songwriting being top notch on Black album.

Fully disagree with you on Megadeth records being not up to par. I'd say both are both bands put out solid material, especially in that 88-93 time period. Rust has some very sophisticated writing on it. It would be a purely subjective thing to not like Rust, but god damn that album has some solid material and production on it. Then Mustaine went and did some odd bits in the 2004 remaster. Anyway, I respect your choice but I disagree with your judgement.
