If you intend to use this enclosure for transferring files between computers, this is an excellent purchase. However, if you plan to use this drive for continuous use, such as a primary drive or media server, I would advise against it. During prolonged use, the drive becomes extremely hot, and its read/write speeds significantly decrease.

I've been using it as a file/media server with a 4TB WD NVMe and don't have those issues.

I have a bunch of these Orico M2PV enclosures and they work great. If you have any hiccups like disconnects, update the firmware before writing off the enclosure because these inevitably ship from the factory with quite old firmware. For example, the new enclosures I got in 2025 arrived with ancient v1.23.15 firmware from 11/16/2020, but the latest current firmware is v1.34.39 from 1/13/2025 (see https://github.com/bensuperpc/rtl9210).

Appreciate it!
I had to do the same thing for a no-name unit, but had to figure out which to use by trying a bunch (all for the same RTL chip). Works better now.

Yes, a bunch of brands out there, but many of them--even some of the "expensive" ones--use this same RTL9210(B) chip. Indeed, many even seem to share very similar designs, which are undoubtedly reference designs released by RealTek.
What might not be obvious with the flashing program is that you should first backup the existing firmware settings, and you can then make those same settings on top of the updated firmware.
