I bought this stuff a few years ago. It worked on my steps, but eventually got too wet outside and peeled up. It lasted about a year. If the stairs are covered, you'll probably be okay.

FWIW it doesn't look like the 50' version comes with the roller. Tho the 35' version doesn't explicitly say it does either, the listing has it in the pictures.
