I love the idea of these, but wish it had a feature set more similar to a fenix/enduro. I guess mapping would be tricky with physical hands in the way and it would require a higher res screen, but I would gladly pay the premium for what I would consider to be a perfect Garmin.

Yeah I've seen that but haven't looked too close at it yet. I'd like a solar/sapphire option more than amoled in general though

If its solar, does it charge as long as it gets some sunlight or does it have to face the sun directly to keep charging? I like the idea of solar, this is why I stopped buying anything other than Citizen EcoDrive but the 31 hours in GPS mode seems short. Doesn't even have LTE connection so not sure why battery life is so short.

How many consecutive ultramarathons do you plan on running?

So this is just for marathon runners? In thst case why not just get an apple watch or something, I figured it has regular minutr and hour arms, looks like normal watch with smart backdrop..

Its an ok deal, but it is 4 years old. Meaning, it will get zero updates from garmin. Just know what you are getting.

The amount of lumens you receive depends on the angle that sun's rays hit the solar panel. I've noticed that watch charges best when it's submerged in water as water reflects sun's rays directly at 90° angle to solar panel irrelevant of suns position in the sky.

Yes, but you don't walk around recording with GPS. The apple watch has nowhere near this kind of activity recording, because it's not for people running ultramarathons.

Do people need GPS when running marathon? I figure its more important for hiking.

If you want to track your pacing and follow a race plan (without remembering all your splits mentally), then yes

I see so its for logging, not for positioning where you are type of GPS.
