Tapo stuff is unreliable generally. Random connectivity issues and app breaks some functionality every few months. I find FEIT to work more consistently over the years.

I'm quite happy with most of my numerous Tapo products. I don't want to use a hub for a product such as this. If I had the H500, maybe.

I don't have any problems so far, have separate iot segment of my wifi for that, I assume most users don't have network good enough to handle it

Love my Tapo and Kasa products from TP-Link(switches and smart plugs), but with WiFi, Zigbee, and Z-Wave devices in the house, not looking for another hub.

These Govee temperature and humidty monitors are ~half the price, and integrate nicely in Home Assistant with the Govee Bluetooth integration; I have them controlling exhaust fans in two bathrooms based on humidity rise.

Agreed. The Govee thermometers are cheaper, don't require a hub, and work great with home assistant; no Internet connection required. I've been using them for years without issue.

Samesies, my dude. The only reason i can see this being a deal is if you already have a bunch of tapo ecosystem stuff. The Govee sensors work passively to bluetooth with home assistant with literally no work to set up, from a LONG way away, they have a local display, and one pair of AAA batteries lasts at least a year.

I thought was this until realized its my router, and realized limited by Router connection capability.

Makes sense if you already have the hub. I went the Wifi route for years, and then I simply had too much sh*t directly connecting to my router. If you have a lot of sensors, the hub approach makes more sense, and the battery life is far better on these sorts of devices vs. ones that directly connect to Wifi. I have 8 Tapo water sensors which are going on 3 years on the same battery, and only one device connected to my Wifi that manages them.

These work with their $20 Tapo hub and are pretty accurate and reliable. I recently added another to my garage, and even at a long distance from the hub, it's only disconnected then reconnected once in 2 months.

The difference in price is because the govees are LCD whereas these are e-ink (like the Kindles) so the batteries effectively last much longer in these Tapos.

Are you able to access the data when your Internet connection is down, or if Tapo shuts down their server in the future?

Not sure what you mean by accessing it, i.e., is sensor data stored in cloud? Yes, so if your internet is out they don't report. But also, the water sensors work regardless of internet. If I am sitting at home and the internet is out, they beep that there is water, you don't need the cloud for that.
As for Tapo shutting down their server, I went with Tapo because it is a popular brand that is part of a larger company. Unlikely they will shut down this server before end of life on the equipment. Also, that is the same issue with Wifi devices anyways... the Tapo replaced Moen Flo sensors, which don't require a hub but still have the same company-hosted problem. As for self-hosted solutions, I have tried those in the past and it is far more likely that a self-hosted solution goes offline and isn't fixed nearly as fast as a cloud solution that is down for thousands or millions. Or, worst case, I am out of town and want to make sure everything is OK at home - which is the whole damn point of having these things - and some local server isn't working correctly and I'm not in a place to fix it.

I got the H500 hub last month for my Tapo cameras. It added local backup storage, HDMI output, AI detection, and improved app performance. I just bought this sensor and a window/door sensor. This sensor seems to have strong signal as I put it in garage and the hub is 40ft away and through a metal door.
