Not what I was expecting when I saw "furnace". Nice little camping burner, but I prefer something electric or propane so I can refill the bottles, or use my solar generator to power it.

This is a good emergency stove or camp stove. Those cans of fuel are cheap. Buy them at a local Asian grocery

Business Costco has the butane cans and cheaper than the Asian grocers.

Bought this the last time the deal was posted. It's cheap in price and quality. The metal has sharp edges when changing the butane, the top plate is flimsy compared to some camper stones I've used in the past.

The black coating on the top plate burned off during the first use so be sure to use it in a well ventilated area during your first use. It will rust if not carefully cleaned and dried.

8500 btus is super weak for one of these types of stoves. It is very much worth another $10 for a 12k BTU model all over Amazon

measuring a gas burning appliance with watts is bizarre

since the product picture features some nice looking food in the pot, where can I get one of those quality pots?

It looks like a Chinese "hot pot" type of dish. Plenty of good AYCE hot pot places in every major city in the US.

Relatively easy to do at home too, you buy the spice packet at the asian grocery store, thin sliced meat and veggies etc. They also sell pots made exactly for this task at the Asian store, quality varies. I believe "Little Sheep" is the good brand of hot pot spice, they have a spicy and non. Linked the non spicy on Amazon but it's way overpriced. We have a small electric burner we put in the middle of the table and all sit around slowly adding things to the pot and cooking them quick.

I 'm engaged to a Taiwanese and we do hot pot a few times a year. Actually sounds good now but we're iced inside for a day or two here.

No problem. It's really quite easy and fun thing to do at home with kids of the right age, or a small group of friends.

You may want to try it out first so you get an idea of how the process work, cooking times, veggies you like etc. Usually it's a very good value for the food you get. If you're in a Chicago/LA/NY type of city, the Chinatown ones will be the best most likely. Down here in Charlotte, there's a dozen or more AYCE Hot Pot places that are pretty good for the most part.

As the saying goes, "See One. Do One. Teach One". It's really not that intimidating when you know the basics going into it.
