Easy way to get into a 5600/5600x. These motherboards are very basic,
I've built 2 computers with them, one recently. Not much in the way for fan headers and I'm pretty sure there is no USB-C

This is, wow. They're trying to move the oldest stock by bundling it with the highest cost markup items. At least go for a B550, unless you already have pretty much the rest of a system with a Zen 2 processor and max PCIe 3.0 GPU. It's a bad time to build any system, but especially a system with quite outdated parts that don't make sense to upgrade later.

Meh, you can together something cheap like a $50 ryzen 5600, and a $200 3060 12gb, a cheap mid tower case, some cheap fans and a C-B tier PSU and have something that can 1080p game and do office tasks. There are worse routes. Upgradability doesn't always matter to everyone, and this is more of a build now and wait for prices to normalize again type of a set up. I bought this board for a buddy of mine who I had my old 2600/16gb and a cheap spare FE 2080 I had. He didn't want to spend more and go with something a touch newer but he got a free CPU/Ram and CHEAP GPU out of it.

I get it something doesn't fit your needs so you can't imagine it fitting anyone else's but not every PC is a gaming PC and not every PC builds needs to be a super powerful PC. Sometimes people just build torrent servers or NAS's or a PC for grandma to watch her cooking shows on......

Ryzen 5600 is $150 used right now, and that and the 3060 are PCIe 4.0, which you won't get on a B450 mobo. A B550 with 5600 and 3060 would be a perfectly serviceable gaming pc. The situation you purchased for is exactly what I said it was good for, Zen 2 and PCIe 3.0 GPU that you already had.

I think this bottom of the barrel B450 board is a bad idea for pretty much all of those. I get that people don't need the same things, but you can get systems that are either better for the same money or cheaper for the niche. Adding a $40 case, $60+ used 3600, $60 psu and without purchasing a GPU it's already better to get a mini pc for sub $400 that's faster and has more RAM. Raspi for torrent server. For a NAS you want at least SATA ports, this only has 4, and you're not doing any real transcoding with Zen 2 without adding a semi expensive graphics card. If it happens to complete stuff you already have great, but for the same money you can do way better or the same performance for cheaper, even during this crazy time.

New B450 in 2026, the chipset was released in 2018. Maybe it worth $50 for the old motherboard, so $170 for 16GB of DDR4 and 1TB SSD, what a joke if it comes out last year. Control the market, make everything expensive, no one can afford it, destroy human tech market and ruin human life. Is this really the first step toward AI destroying and take place of human beings?
