Cotton! Polyester is not only uncomfortable, it's bad for the environment. Machine washing polyester garment is major contributor to microplastics in waste water which isn't removed in processing plants.

After this much time I think the consensus is folks know a) this clothing isnt going to feel great and b) almost guaranteed to not last long.

I would agree with you because it's an Amazon brand, but I got a pair of the Wrangler ATG Convertible Trail Joggers (94% nylon, 4% spandex) from a deal on this site and liked them so much I bought two more pairs. They are now my go-to travel pants and have been plenty durable.
