Is there a point to taking this if a multivitamin already has 100% of recommended daily allowance? Seems like it could be detrimental.

I've read reviews saying this can cause cystic acne. I bought 5,000 mcg version but hesitant to use it yet

Biotin USDA recommendation used to be 300 mcg, but got reduced to 30 mcg. I know 30 mcg isn't enough for me over the long term. I'll end up feeling rather lethargic - especially after meals. Taking a large dose at night will make me feel much better the next morning - for several days or even weeks.
So, I'll go for large dose maybe once per week, since excessive B vitamins aren't great for you. I do prefer the sublingual dissolving type, since I'm not sure it isn't an absorption problem.

Biotin supplements rarely work for hair, skin, or nail improvement because deficiencies are uncommon, as it is found in many foods (eggs, nuts, dairy). Studies show limited evidence of efficacy for healthy individuals, and excessive intake (often 5,000–10,000 mcg) is usually unnecessary.
