"Use freefile!" -- if your return is simple enough for this, HR Block Deluxe is more than you need, anwyay.
"Print and file state to save $20" -- ditto above. My return isn't complex, but the state requires about 30 pages printed, signed, certified mail...the time spent printing, organzizing, and $10+ postage isn't worth it.
As always, YMMV, but I'm speaking to the target audience here. Worst tax program available...except for all the others. Check your own math where you can. It's not flawless (especially state). However, most of the errors I've found are redundancies, not major omissions, so easy to fix. The error check (ironically) finds most of the stuff the program failed to do.

In the case of H&R Block Deluxe + State: since you have already paid for 1 copy of State, there is no additional fees to be charged. This does not equate the state e-filing process being free. The law is there to prevent tax software companies from charging hidden fees beyond the initial preparation fee.

Now, drop it and move on instead of grasping at straws to prove yourself correct. My state (NC) has free efile based on income levels. May be your state is the same but it seems, there are some states which allow a completely free e-file regardless of income. Nobody mentioned free state preparation at all till you did.
