This is typically as low as it gets, so might as well pull the trigger and turn off that deal alert.

Just do it. I looked back over my 15+ years of buying this exact program and they're almost always this price, give or take a buck.

"Use freefile!" -- if your return is simple enough for this, HR Block Deluxe is more than you need, anwyay.

"Print and file state to save $20" -- ditto above. My return isn't complex, but the state requires about 30 pages printed, signed, certified mail...the time spent printing, organzizing, and $10+ postage isn't worth it.

As always, YMMV, but I'm speaking to the target audience here. Worst tax program available...except for all the others. Check your own math where you can. It's not flawless (especially state). However, most of the errors I've found are redundancies, not major omissions, so easy to fix. The error check (ironically) finds most of the stuff the program failed to do.

Good deal just buy it already and you won't have to read anymore of the stupid FreeTax Fanboy posts telling you how much better FreeTax is and how they are so much smarter than you for not buying Block software.

The code is for the Fed Filing. You have to pay extra for state efile. Are you in a free efile state?
There is only one state that mandates software companies provide free e-file and that's NY. H&R Block charges an additional $20 for state e-file everywhere else (that has state tax returns). Some states offer the option to file free in their own system (see wiki).

I used TurboTax in 2023, and had to go back to my accountant for unrelated reasons in 2024, should I get this or wait for a deal on the latest TurboTax?

Yes. HRB Deluxe is a great piece of software. I've been using it for years and it can handle almost any scenario.
So pretty much does it cover everything like I don't own a business. But but I have dividends and interest. I also have a house but I don't think we can ride off the interest anymore. Oh amd the overtime thing.

Yup, you should be good for all of those. Even if the program doesn't specifically list your use case, you can always just pull up the form and manually enter it on the program.

HRB is very user friendly.

be careful. HR block software usually has problems that are eventually rectified. I've been using the business software for years for a sub s corporation. got this deal a month ago. it downloads as premium/state plus business as two different installs. they both installed on my desktop but the business wouldn't open claiming a problem with some database, 20 or 30 seconds after I tried to open it. tried it on another desktop with same results. both windows 11 machines with newest updates. Newegg wasn't much help but they sent me a link to download it directly from HR block. same results. amazingly I got it to install on my Lenovo laptop which is also windows 11. eventually I completed my return but when I tried to e-file it there was a giant glitch and I was recommended to go to a site to check my account status. this site had nothing to do with HR block. I reported the problem to them two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a fix. also every year I have tried to import last year's return and have never been able to do it. so it's start from scratch every year. and this year is a total fiasco. I asked the guy at h&r block yesterday if anyone has been able to e-file on the business software and he wasn't able to answer.

they wanted $19 to ship the key card to me (Hawai'i) sigh. Email would've been nice.
In that case if you haven't already you should purchase the digital download. They send you the code and download link by email.

Has anyone used delux or premium and had a rental property? I rented a furnished home with utilities included and last year I was late to filing and overpaid (income looked like 5k a month but didn't deduct my mortgage and utilities so profit was really 2k a month vs 5 and the software just didn't seem to have a clear option). I probably need to amend my return from last year.

Not sure about this year's Deluxe but last year's Deluxe allows you to do rental income. It has the questionnaires and forms to do rental income, expenses, property depreciation, etc. If you have a small business, then the Premium may work better for you.

Can you elaborate? I've been doing the download for years and have not noticed any missing features.
The software version tends to include more support for IRS forms at the same named tier (e.g., Deluxe desktop often handles investment forms that the Deluxe online version might require paying for a higher tier for).

For example, investment income, stock sales, and some deductions can be supported in Deluxe software without upgrading further online.
