That's a hell of a deal for a Dell 32" 4K 120Hz OLED! I paid about this much for a similarly-spec'ed Dell IPS about a year ago. Very happy with it, but I'd much rather have this one.

4k 32" is 138 PPI
2k 27" is 108 PPI
I don't understand why anyone would use a 42" or 48" 16:9 monitor.. especially if you're sitting close

My calculated comfort zone is about 70 PPI. I used to run a 20" Sony Trinitron at 1152 by 864. When 32" 1080p LCD panels became commodity items that became my daily driver. These days my primary daily driver is a 28" 4k display, but I run it at 150% for comfort. Bigger pixels is where it is at for me.

48" 16:9 for a monitor is too big for most. For OLED TVs, 42" 16:9 is the sweet spot. If you're going with wider aspect ratio displays like 21:9 or 32:9, you can get away with 48"+ because it's less straining for human eyes to scan side-to-side versus up-and-down.

Lots of posts on Reddit and other forums discussing the 42 vs 48 OLED TV debate; almost everyone recommends 42.

I don't contest those recommendations, but consider two critical data points for me:
  • On average, most people are younger than me
  • On average, most people have better near vision than me
The collected advice on screen size is solid for the average buyer... but consider the above I'm probably the outlier.
