29¢ per oz is a fantastic price (about 1/2 of normal bulk pricing) for crushed red pepper flakes, but....does anyone other than restaurants go through 4 1/2 lbs? I usually buy "one" 12 oz bottle and even though I use them a lot that still lasts what seems forever. The color starts to dull after awhile and they're not as fresh or mice as when you first get them. I guess they are also used as a natural, non-toxic way of deterring pests, but I'll stick with chemical warfare for rodents and bugs.
