These are typically used with Lithium batteries which means they'll last for a long time and they'll be less susceptible to cold temperatures. You hide it in your car so that a thief can't find it. Also, you can mod your AirTag so that it no longer beeps which means if someone tries to find it after receiving notification that "an AirTag is following you" they won't be able to find it using their phone. You can find instructions on how to do this on YouTube. I did in on the one for my car and two for my parents' cars, and it was stupidly easy to do.

Weld a small box to the frame of your expensive car, this inside, cheap 10 year lojack. Same concept with anything you want to know where it is for the next 10 years and never worry about battery, etc.

This extended AirTag case is built for hiding a tracker deep in a car, suitcase, scooter, or other hard to reach spot, where the bigger battery setup can stretch battery changes from months to years. Lithium AA batteries are repeatedly tied to longer life and better cold weather performance, and the case also adds a Faraday cage style shield. The tradeoff is size and visibility, since the package is bulky and less discreet. It is a niche accessory, but a practical one for long term tracking and infrequent battery swaps.

Will have to wait comparisons to be made, but hopefully the new Airtags are also compatible with this.

Less discreet but I like the AA battery possibility.

Likely making AirTags 1 even cheaper then they were before. AirTags and this ElevationLab case are still good products. Yes, one could probably buy one cheaper from AE, but maybe one doesn't want to wait 2-3 weeks to receive it.

Grabbed these the last time they were on sale, works like a charm! Got the four pack, used two in suitcases and one in our car.

I have a small storage locker that I visit very infrequently and I put one in one of the boxes I have in there.

Good idea. You might want to mod the AirTag so it doesn't make noise if someone steals it and tries to find it using their phone. You basically open the Airtag, put out the board and pry off the speaker.

From *elevation labs*, or a cheap knock-off?
