This is not a deal. The UGREEN Revodok Pro 6-in-1 has better ports for less than half this price.

Worth mentioning the differences:
  • Revodok is 100w charging, but only has data on the usb-a ports. The single usb-c port is only for charging, no data transfer.
  • The anker has a usb-c port that can be used for data. The other usb-c port is for charging but only 65 watts.

...unless you're specifically looking for something with gigabit ethernet, which is one of the main draws for this Anker one.

Good info. One more note: the HDMI port on this Anker only does 4k@30hz. The ugreen has 4k@60hz.

True, but there are also better priced options if you need Ethernet. For example, the UGREEN Revodok 6 in 1 (non pro version) for $18 has Ethernet and supports 100watt USB-PD supply(85 watts to device).

Or there's the LOOKFUN 8 in 1 at Walmart for $9.30. It has 2x USB A, 1x USB-C data, 1x USB-C power input(100 watt), Ethernet, HDMI, and an SD/TF card reader.

More realistically, the right hub to buy is the one that best meets your specific needs. Maybe that is this one.

I have purchased this Anker model previously for this reason, and I was never able to get gigabit speeds no matter what I tried. Other USB-C hubs did it fine with the same setups/cables/connections. I'm normally pretty happy with my Anker purchases, but this is one of the rare times where the product did not meet my expectations.

It's hard to say consumers have done anything besides encourage manufacturers' relentless pursuit of 'thin and light', which often comes at the cost of connectivity - especially bigger ports like ethernet, when reviews & commentary regularly call out & criticize anything that isn't as thin as it can possibly be.

That LOOKFUN 8 in 1 price is a little crazy, especially with ethernet plus SD full size and mini support. But no power delivery, correct? Can't find any mention of it in the description and one review complains "Does not have "power delivery"....4 different tested devices don't charge on this"

It supports power delivery. 100watt in, probably around 85 watts to the laptop. They mention this multiple times in the item description. As a guess, those reviewers may be plugging the USB charger into the wrong USB-C port(there are two), or they may be trying to charge devices plugged into the USB ports on the hub; those are data only ports, no charging.

I'm a professor, and this is my daily driver for hooking up my Macbook Air to various stuff around campus.
