This looks to be quality but having sliced potatoes for my uncle's restaurant, this is too small to get restaurant needed volume. For home use, it could be useful.

From this review:
> My only ding on it is that you have to completely take it apart to clean, keep track of all the little screws, and then reassemble it, so don't throw away the instructions!

Maybe that's fine for a restaurant, but I'm not going through that effort for a batch of fries at home.

There's been a few dozen times when I've had to chop fries from raw potatoes for our family. It sucked but 5 minutes later I had them all done.

Not sure I'm willing sacrifice this amount of cabinet space for an occasional tool. A sharp knife, a few cuss words and 5-10 minutes will be my continued method.

Our kids loved home made fries and I struggled for years with a little plastic doohickey. This would've been great, but... I eventually switched to precut shoestring fries from Costco Business Center and it was cheaper than buying potatoes and tasted pretty good to boot. My kids don't crave fries like before (well, one has already flew the coop) but I don't think I'll go back to the old ways. I'm not entering my fries in a contest. My kid will eat whatever and like it.

If make a lot of fries its worth it, if you only eat fries occasionally you can just them out with a knife.

not even close to being the same but in a pinch I have used an apple slicer to cut a bag of potatoes and then I would slice the center core into half. Worked well enough for the seasoned potatoes that I parboiled, drained and then air fried.

If you're actually making so many fries that you are considering this, and if have a food processor, considering buying a fry blade. It'll last longer than this, cost 1/4 the price, and it's infinitely easier.
It is my opinion that this is one of those kitchen gadgets you should forego, in favor of something more universally applicable (like a food processor). If you're in a commercial use case, you need something bigger anyway, both for throughput but also for preventing your poor employee's repetitive strain injury 😁

Agreed. I wouldn't mind having something like this to make it a bit faster, but not for the price and the cleanup. Just cut the potato into slices, then stack a few on top of each other and cut the strips. It's not that bad and you can cut them at whatever size you like. Unless you're a restaurant making tons of fries all day, I don't see something like this being worth it.
