The problem is this CPU is gimped to heck with only half the cache and PCIe 3.0 which is a big deal if you're using a weaker GPU that doesn't have a full 16x pcie interface. Compounded further by having the iGPU disabled... so this needs a separate GPU

You'd never want to pair this CPU with an expensive GPU hoping for a high end gamer. But it's totally fine for productivity tasks. I have a system running this CPU and Fedora for work tasks and it's responsive and snappy. It undervolted/overclocked quite well and the system fans are very quiet. Match the processor and other equipment to the job and it will be just fine.

Which makes this CPU deal perfect if it had a built in GPU. Disabling the built in GPU forces you to start looking at used GPU's (as all the new ones are horribly overpriced) and doubles the system's idle power.

This pretty much right, 5060TI or 9060xt is about all this chip can handle, more than that is over kill for the CPU.
