According to my research, it is a great deal, super fast, looong battery life with the one caveat being that the Snapdragon processor will have compatibility issues with some apps and drivers.

I was just reading about comparability issues. I'd mainly use basic apps like Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, Chrome, etc. Would there be any compatibility issues with those apps?

I think all those would be fine. I was hoping more of an expert would chime because I'm not

I'm not an expert but my understanding is that traditional apps built for Intel/AMD CPU run on ARM CPU using an emulator. It basically "translates" the x86 instructions into ARM instructions before execution. I've read that this can result in up to around 20% performance drop in some cases. To help with performance a bit, it will save the "translated" blocks on the disk so it doesn't have to translate again if it has already been translated before. so it means it also takes up extra disk storage space. This emulation mechanism only works for user-space apps, so it will not work on software that has a kernel driver piece. I'm sure most software will run fine, but honestly, if I'm gonna spend this much money, I'd rather spend it on something that doesn't have these types of limitations coz it would really suck if you needed to urgently run some software for something important and this machine won't let you. But who knows, maybe in the near future, most software vendors will provide native ARM binaries for their products and this limitation would just be a thing of the past.
