This Walmart Verizon Galaxy S24 Ultra deal centers on a very low upfront price with immediate unlock potential after full payoff. The phone can be bought with just tax or a small in store payment, and the account setup has been quick when stock is available. Several reports say the device unlocks within about an hour after payoff, with Verizon corporate stores and cash payments helping the process. The main catch is timing, since some stores and the app block payoff until the first bill appears or about 30 days, and cancellation can trigger activation fee and final bill hassles. A strong low cost route if the payoff window lines up.

  • people buying an S24 Ultra at Walmart specifically to pay it off fast and get it unlocked right after payoff because multiple commenters said the phone unlocked immediately after full payoff with no waiting time (and in one case it showed unlocked within about an hour).

  • Verizon customers who can wait for their first bill to populate before attempting payoff because commenters reported corporate-store payoff worked once the account/line was showing the first bill (about ~18 hours delay), and trying earlier got blocked by the system.

  • buyers planning to move the device to US Mobile after unlocking because commenters said they paid off at a Verizon corporate store, canceled the lines, and then successfully moved the phones to US Mobile.

  • people who are okay paying off in-store with cash/debit because at least one commenter said the corporate store required cash for payoff and that was part of getting the unlock to happen.

  • people who want to pay off immediately the next day (or before the first bill shows) because several commenters said the store system blocked payoff until a later date or until the first bill populated, with one store showing payoff available on March 11th.

  • buyers who need guaranteed immediate unlock timing after payoff because multiple commenters reported unlock/payoff timing was inconsistent (some saw delays or had to wait for updates before the unlocked status appeared in settings).

  • buyers who don't have a payment method on their Verizon account because commenters reported eligibility/payoff could be delayed or complicated when there was no payment method on file.

  • people relying on chat to cancel lines and avoid activation-fee headaches because commenters said chat sometimes lacked the option to cancel and they had to call Verizon support instead.

Are you running US mobile on top of something other than Verizon or did you get a notification or network setting showed it got unlocked?
I'm running just US Mobile. I already had service with them so just did a device swap. Once I canceled with Verizon I waited about an hour and power cycled the phone. I had no service and Sim 1 showed no provider. Chatted with US Mobile and they sent me a QR code to activate on IMEI 2 and everything works on both phones. Odd thing is once I canceled I got kicked out of the chat with Verizon and trying to log back in will not work. I asked for the transcript to be emailed and still haven't received anything. They're going to try to bill me and be sneaky, but I recorded the entire chat.

US Mobile uses Verizon and other networks so a Verizon locked phone would still work I think if it's using Verizon network so I was curious if the phone is actually unlocked. You can see the comment above to check but you might need to upgrade to A16 first.

Just checked and mine shows unlocked. That comment was spot on about all the updates. I think the first day I bought the phone and set things up was just leaving it on the charger to run updates and reboot.

Once you are done unlocking if you are feeling adventurous and want to flash the phone to an unlocked firmware to get rid of VZW bloat you can follow these steps. It's actually very easy to do with Odin.
1. There are many models of S24 ultra but in US two models are imp. S928U is carrier locked version and S928U1 is the unlocked US version. The firmware for these versions are interchangeable so you can flash the VZW model with S928U1 firmware.
2. Download patched odin v3.14.1_3B_PatchedD.zip from https://xdaforums.com/t/patched-o...1.3762572/ as regular odin does not allow flashing mismatched firmware.
3. Download the firmware from S928U1 XAA version from https://samfrew.com/model/SM-S928U1/region/XAA/ (or use this tool https://github.com/SlackingVeteran/frija) Extract as there will be multiple files.
4. Connect S24U to the windows PC.
5 .Put S24u in download/recovery/odin mode. Power down. Press Volume up and down together, then plugin usb cable (from pc). Wait for disclaimer screen and then press Volume up to go into recovery (a green screen would appear).
6. Start odin and then select different files for different categories and then start. 7, It should be now the US unlocked version.

Does this process break any Samsung features like Knox? I remember on my old Note 5 I did something similar and Knox was no longer enabled.

Went to my nearby Walmart and asked about the S24 Ultra or the S24 Plus. They had x1 Ultra and x2 Plus for Verizon. Bought all 3 to add new lines to my existing V account.

New numbers and new lines. Took about 10 minutes for each phone. In store payment was just the tax $4-plus and $8-ultra.

My V account shows the new lines and phones with the correct $49 & $99 total pay off.

I will cancel the new lines in a few days once the 'pay-off' button appears under the 'manage device' page. Hopefully before 3 days, but if not, still a good price.

On the phones, I can't find anything that says 'network locked', but I do get a message to call Verizon when I insert my AT&T SIM card. I'll make sure this works before I cancel the lines.
What is the chepest plan to choose if I can find any near by ?

I already had an active VZW account. The store rep just added the new lines as Unlimited Welcome ($30/mo) like the rest of my existing lines.

How long had you had the phone before you were able to pay it off at the corporate store? Also, did you have any payment methods attached to your Verizon account already? Was it a new line when you signed up at Walmart?

Apologies for all the questions, but I got an S24 Ultra last night around 10:50pm, and I just went to the local corporate store at around 4:50pm the next day, and they said I had to wait 30 days to pay off the phone. The woman I spoke to was nice, and didn't ask too many questions outside of when I got the phone, but she went to confer with someone else after allowing herself access to my account through the phone, and he said it wasn't possible until it had been 30 days, like the system wouldn't even allow it. He told the woman helping me that's why this banner was appearing on top of tablet device (not allowing it I guess?), and that I'd have to wait 30 days before I could, even in store. He also made a remark about how it was $99 and he "knows the phone should be more than that." They said I wouldn't be able to do it until March 9th.

Right now I don't have a payment method tied to the Verizon account, and it's been less than 24 hours, so I'm wondering if I tried to go in too quickly or something? I saw a post from someone on reddit a year ago or so saying he was able to pay off his device in before the thirty days by adding a credit card and calling the automated Verizon line and just saying "pay off device," so I might try that when I get home.

I'm also looking to pay off before 30 days. The policy on their website says you can pay it off before 30 days.

https://www.verizon.com/support/d...ment-faqs/

Code:
How does the Verizon device payment program work?
Verizon's monthly installment payment program lets you pay for mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, basic phones, tablets, smartwatches) over a specified time with 0% APR and no finance charges or customer agreements.

The device payment program:

Requires that you enter an agreement to pay for the device in monthly payments until the device is paid off.
You can pay the installments over the full period of the term or pay off the device's total price any time.*
An upgrade fee applies.
*If it's still within the device's 30-day return and exchange period then you can only pay off the device in a Verizon retail store. When you pay off your device agreement:

Any monthly promotional credits you're getting for that device will stop.
Your Verizon-bought device is automatically unlocked. See the Device Locking FAQs for more information.

Hello,

I appreciate the info, but I was aware of that on their site. I mentioned it to them when I went in-store, but it didn't seem to matter. The reason I quoted danger07 is they were already successful in paying it off in full, cancelling the line, unlocking the phone and starting service elsewhere, and I'm trying to figure out what they did differently so I can replicate it. I'm also curious how much they paid in total.

Right now the only reasons I can think of for not being able to pay it off are either I going too early (less than 24 hours after getting the phone) or not having a payment method on file. They also could've been lying to me at the store, but it didn't seem that way. I checked my status on the Verizon app and now it's showing money owed and says my bill is being generated and will be ready February 9th, and I don't remember the app showing any of that last night when I first set up the phone and checked. Ideally trying to get this paid off and unlocked before the activation fee hits after 3 days like I saw mentioned earlier in the thread.

That's the policy I see on the website, so I will go to 10 different Verizon stores until they let me pay it off
