...so, why does a multimeter need Al? I want actual, precise measurements....not estimated slop telling me what it thinks I want to hear.

I bought a more standard DMM month or so ago and I like it. It's pretty small and the leads were a little shorter than ideal but they work. This is obviously a different device, but I wonder if that trend would be similar.
