Dark Star is ATT network, this states MUST remain active on Dark Star.

I have no clue how ATT hasn't closed down because everywhere I've been their network is shit.
honestly I thought the same until I swapped all three networks on usmobile. Verizon is great outdoors. As soon as I walk inside data is almost Edge speeds. T-Mobile is good just had what I felt as congestion slowdowns more than the others. Att was the better of the three for me. Worked indoors. No real slowdowns through the day. I was surprised Darkstar worked as well as it did based on all the comments I read. Of course this was just my experience.

How does DarkStar work in Seattle, Washington? I am seriously interested. Also does it make sense to upgrade to premium? 119 vs 140. $2.5/mo is not a big deal if there is any significant benefit. Thanks! My contract expires on Feb. 4. Really need this to work.

It really just depends on your location. Most people leave those comments thinking all the networks work exactly the same no matter where you are. My experience is the same as yours, Att/Tmobile work the best where I live and Verizon is unusable.

Thanks for checking, it's a no go for me then. I'll stick with visible pro + for now since they also got a good promo and include android smartwatch plan for my Samsung ultra.
What is the deal with Visible? $19/mo is not a lot more. But still way more expensive than this one. Thanks!

Also how does ATT/DarkStar work in SF Bay Area? I might need a second line. Thanks.

What do you do after this deal expires? $390 increased price is steep. If you can't find other deals in time, you are stuck. Does US mobile extend promotions or offer promotions to existing customers?

Current customer called them and they won't offer these promotions to current customer. I will port out and come back when a new offer comes

This is a misleading claim that USM makes. If you use this promo, you cannot switch. If you spend 31 days off Darkstar, discount goes away.
The actual terms do not allow for any transfers:

The line must remain on Dark Star for the full duration of the annual cycle. Attempts to transfer the line to any other network will void the discount, and the line's authorized payment method will be charged the difference between the full price of the annual Unlimited Premium plan and the discounted price.

How to initiate network switch? I am buying this for my daughter and she probably won't have any idea on what is going on. Is there any chance that she will trigger the switch by chance?

Room 641a was by Yerba Buena Gardens, a major telecom hub for them, so ATT coverage is probably pretty good.

I too can confirm that you do have to stay on Darkstar. I signed up not realizing that and it has suuuuucked. I had no idea when I transferred until I got a warning email.

You scored a discounted annual line along with a free line with our Buy one, get one & OVERDRIVE offers. Nicely done!

To keep your promotions active, both your paid and free lines need to be on Dark Star. Your 36-day allowance for other networks has passed for line XXXXXXXXXX, so it's time to switch back to Dark Star to keep your promotions intact.

If you're loving Warp or Light Speed and want to stay there, no problem — just let us know and we'll charge for service on those networks. If you have any questions about how the charges will work, simply reply to this email and we'll be happy to walk you through it. But if you enjoyed Dark Star, there's still time to switch back and keep your free line.

It's quick and easy to switch networks right from your dashboard.

No. You have to manually submit a request to change networks ("Teleport") through the app or web portal. No way to trigger it accidentally.

As others have mentioned, it's very sketchy how USM advertises this, but if you know / suspect / ultimately determine that you'll need access to T-Mobile or Verizon, the annual add on for "multi-network" would allow you to add one of those networks for cheap, which then allows you to use the secondary network for data.

In that case, the backup network would be added to the device as a secondary line / eSIM, and you can toggle between the two as desired (and, at least on an iPhone, you can designate the secondary line as default for data and/or enable automatic network switching).

The downside to this approach is if DarkStar (AT&T) has no coverage, your calls and text messages won't go through (though you could still use Wi-Fi calling while connected to Wi-Fi, and/or iMessage and FaceTime calling on an iPhone through the secondary line). That may be too complicated for someone who isn't tech savvy, but ultimately isn't too difficult overall.
