What is the deal with Visible? $19/mo is not a lot more. But still way more expensive than this one. Thanks!
$33/month for 26 months , including smartwatch. It's a great deal for me overall, I've had visible pro + for a while and speeds are impressive.

US Mobile doesn't follow the law. They give you hassles when you try to port out your number.
So both = hard pass.

Exactly why I don't have any primary lines with them. I've been with every major carrier in every variety you can imagine .. AT&T, Cingular, Verizon, Sprint, Tmobile, etc. Never heard of the kind of nonsense I do with porting out with US Mobile. I have a bunch of random lines for 2FA etc for company work with them, but nothing mission critical.

What do you do after this deal expires? $390 increased price is steep. If you can't find other deals in time, you are stuck. Does US mobile extend promotions or offer promotions to existing customers?
You can switch to a lower tier monthly plan that's cheaper, such as their by the gig or starter. This also allows you to easily jump ship to another carrier's deal. You can come back to US Mobile as a new customer after 30 days away. They never offer their best promotions to current customers, but some have luck getting significant discounts via their chat support.

"Offer valid for new and existing US Mobile customers" - This is NOT true. You cannot use this annual plan if you're an existing customer. It is only for Port-ins from another carrier. Existing customers w/ existing liens only get the the 50% Network Add-in.
Another error in the post, the starter plan gets 20gb hotspot not 50. 50 was a typo in one of their initial communications. 20gb is their normal for starter

I took this to mean something different, but it's important that we figure out what this really means. I read this as you must remain on Dark Star (AT&T) and not jump to Warp or Lightspeed (where this promo is not applicable) and will thus be charged the full rate if you switch to those "in house networks" (rendering the network add on less useful). Porting out to a different carrier and ending your service early is something different. If this is a prepaid plan, I don't see how they can retroactively charge your card if you part ways earlier (and have already paid for the service you are forfeiting).

Can anyone confirm or deny that this is the case?
You are correct. In addition, the multi-network add-on CAN be used with this promo if access to another network is needed/desired.

Thanks for catching this. What about the standard $25 referral, will that still work?
No, whatever referral tier you're at ($25, $75, etc.) you'll only get it if they buy a couple of these mid-winter plans. The $50 bonus bonus they're offering existing customers only requires one person to be referred.

QCI 9 is the lowest priority for data, right? That means it slows down your speeds when the network is busy, even if you are on 5G with good signal? 20GB tethered via my smartphone for this price is a good deal assuming the network isn't too busy when you need it. Been with them awhile now and they do pay rewards on your referrals. Only issue I had was getting voicemail working on my Tracfone branded Samsung phone. Finally gave up with them and just programmed the phone so when I do a long press on "1" it dials my own phone number which puts me into voicemail.
Anyone have any idea how to get visual voicemail with DarkStar? Is there an app somewhere that I am too dumb to find on my own? Please and thank you.
Try Cricket's visual voicemail, that's what I use with Dark Star on my Samsung. Also, the default visual voicemail in the Samsung phone app works for some of my family (it's the little envelope looking symbol just left of the green call button that you'd press after dialing a number).

private company, owned by a Pakastani, most of their support team works from Pakastan. Though it's a company registered in New York.

I don't know all the workings behind the scenes. I've been with them (5 lines) for a bit over 4 years with no issues (Warp and Lightspeed only)

They are REALLY pushing Darkstar, so gotta be getting some sweet deal from ATT or planning to get a ton of subscribers and hoping ATT buys them out???
There's a nice team photo from their recent Hawaii team meet up:

I'm confused by the "must stay on Dark Star". The Unlimited Premium plan allows for free network switching, so why wouldn't you be able to switch?
Prior deals waited till checkout to tell you that network switching was disabled on this deal. If in doubt get the multinetwork

In the context of US Mobile (the carrier discussed in your screenshot), Dark Star is the internal codename for their service provided via the AT&T network.
US Mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), meaning they don't own their own cell towers. Instead, they buy space from the "Big Three" carriers and rebrand them with sci-fi names.
The US Mobile Network "Translator"
| US Mobile Name | Actual Underlying Network |
|---|---|
| Dark Star | AT&T |
| Warp | Verizon |
| Light Speed | T-Mobile |
Mechanics of the "Multi-Network" Issue
The screenshot you provided is highlighting a specific technical limitation of how US Mobile handles their plans. Here is the breakdown of what is happening:
* Network Locking: When you sign up for a specific plan (like the "WINTER149" promo mentioned), your primary SIM is provisioned for one specific "core"—in this case, Dark Star (AT&T). You cannot simply toggle that specific line to another network.
* The Add-On vs. The Primary Line: The "Multi-Network" add-on creates a second, separate eSIM on your device.
* Your primary number stays on Dark Star (AT&T).
* Your secondary eSIM can be set to Warp (Verizon) or Light Speed (T-Mobile).
* The Shared Data Mechanism: Both lines draw from the same data bucket, but they function as two distinct signals. Your phone uses its built-in "Dual SIM" capability to switch between them based on which tower has a stronger signal.
Why this matters
The user in the screenshot is frustrated because the "Multi-Network" add-on doesn't "fix" a bad primary connection. If your house has zero AT&T (Dark Star) coverage, the add-on gives you a second line that works, but it doesn't move your main phone number off the dead AT&T network. To move the main number, you would have to perform a "Teleport" (US Mobile's term for an internal port), which sometimes conflicts with specific promotional pricing like the one shown.

honestly I thought the same until I swapped all three networks on usmobile. Verizon is great outdoors. As soon as I walk inside data is almost Edge speeds. T-Mobile is good just had what I felt as congestion slowdowns more than the others. Att was the better of the three for me. Worked indoors. No real slowdowns through the day. I was surprised Darkstar worked as well as it did based on all the comments I read. Of course this was just my experience.
Same experience here, been on Dark Star Unlimited Premium plan for about 8 months, and the only issues I've had, inside or out, have been when we are out in the boonies camping. But everyone else has issues out there too.
Was previously on Mint and that was a bad experience, as soon as I was out of a city, or away from an interstate had problems.

I snagged the 67 BF deal and have been happy with their light speed (t mobile) coverage. My wife is due to end her mint plan in less than a month; willing to try dark star (AT&T).

Question for the mind hive: will the referral bonus stack with the mid winter blowout promo?
According to US mobile's referral FAQ:
"This offer cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. Pricing, promotions, and terms & conditions are subject to change without notice."

One account can have multiple lines so, yes.

The promo requires a number to be ported in. It's clearly intended to get people to switch from their current provider (so they are porting in anyway), but a hassle for most existing customers who just want the deal; must grab a number to port in.

So where to get the number? [Any who read this, please share!] Last time I went with Tello for the minimal hassle ($10), but found others using Number Barn, some even GV. This is info that should be in the wiki, make it easier for all.
