Really good game. I wish they would have announced a new game coming with the next Valve headset but nothing yet.
With Facebook closing shop and nothing coming from PSVR2 it seems like people are giving up on VR.

The best VR game. This game alone is worth buying VR for — it's that good.
It sets the bar so high that you'll be very disappointed with the quality of other VR projects.

This is the usual sale price, seen 6 times in the last year. It likely won't drop much lower, if at all, in the next year.

Wondering if I should get this. Have seen nothing but universally glowing reviews. Haven't bought it already for two reasons --

1) VR just gives me motion sickness. I tried Asgard's Wrath 2 multiple times and every time gave up after 20 min or so. My VR headset only gets used for cozy games like Walkabout golf or stationary ones like Moss. And honestly, nowadays I use it to just watch streaming content while lying in bed.

2) The game looks incredibly spooky from trailers, and I can totally imagine tons of jump scares in this game. I absolutely never play horror games or watch horror movies. Playing a spooky game in VR is too much of a stretch for me. I don't want to be cremated with an oval impression on my face cause I face-planted down while wearing the headset; me not being able to take the headset off in time cause my hands were clutching my chest during the heart attack. The priest will state in my eulogy -- "He died fighting aliens. He fought bravely, but sadly they won the fight".

I do wonder whether I should still buy it to play it using the NoVR mod. Yeah, I know; the irony of playing a VR game on a flat-screen using a mod, when you have a VR headset. But in my defense --- crab-like aliens jumping at you in VR. I rest my case.

I was a VR Tech for a Restaurant and VR Lounge and I've put thousands of first timers in VR. What I've learned is that ones ability and comfort in VR is like a muscle. We offered different types of VR. 180 seated Gear VR and room scale VR with the Vive. Gear VR comfort was rarely ever complained about even with people who claimed to get motion sickness. We also had folks afraid to even do the seated experiences because they had a friend put them in PSVR and messed with them while playing. Touching someone in VR should be off limits.Starting off with 180 and 360 videos are the most I'd recommend someone until they can be in VR for longer stretches. After that then can try going roomscale active games. But not everyone is the same. Some first timers were going wild in Pavlov, Gorn, Beat Saber. Previous exposure to high framerates like fast paced games can help mitigate motion sickness. Our boss also had us offer dramamine lol

I have a really hard time playing Asgard's Wrath 2. The reason is the poor frame rates on the Quest 3. Sure more VR experience helps, but when the frame rates dip when the action increases it will hurt even those with a lot of VR time under their belts. My 5070 ti gets me a solid 90 fps with Alyx, so that for me means very little motion sickness. What's left is just the long play time issues where it slowly becomes uncomfortable for all the other reasons.

As a VR gamer I think this is peak VR even though it came out in 2020. Worth it at this price if you have any interested in PC VR.

Amazing game. I picked this up after I grabbed a refurb Meta Quest 2. I was and still are shocked how good that game is in terms of visuals and responsiveness and immersion. Truly mind blowing and worth the expense of the headset and game combined even if this is the only game you ever play. Been playing it off and on for a few years (not kidding). I'll get to the end at some point LOL. The other killer app is Google Maps in VR. Whoa.

How did you set this up to play on the quest? I may have to borrow my son's. I've never used it

I highly doubt Valve will release another AAA VR game again. VR is kind dead, people always recommend the same 5 games that came out like 5 years ago.

They have a 2 hour return policy. Get the game, set an hour timer and play it. If you find you get sick return it.
The NoVR mod is an option but a lot of the charm are the VR aspects...

You would just play it like any other SteamVR game. You download the steam app from the meta store. Have Steam open on your PC, and then launch the steam app from the Quest and it will show you VR ready games.

That or a bunch of really good ones are locked behind the Quest ecosystem. I would say they could just port it to SteamVR/PC but by Meta firing the teams that made it they are sending a clear message they aren't doing that.
