Not surprised to see a refurb deal on these since there are tons of them that get sent back to be fixed. I had a pair for 3 months before they refused to charge and I returned them. The charging and battery software is absolute trash which is a shame because I loved them while they worked.

I was able to fix mine. I realized it was because the headphones weren't fully assembled. My right headphones earpads weren't fully snapped on and it wasn't until I pushed those earpads in did ANC fully engage.
The leakage was caused more noise to leak through and not allowing the NC to fully engage.

For anyone still following this.
I picked up XM6 and PX7 S3 to compare. Obviously those are different devices, but speaking generally:
- ANC: Sony blows B&W out of the water, to the point where I had to seriously evaluate my motivations for getting headphones
- Build quality: B&W blows Sony out of the entire water park. Sony feels like a plastic toy that you can snap in half if you apply enough force. B&W is a premium device made with metals and very comfortable ear pads.
- Sound quality: B&W is noticeably better SPECIFICALLY when you compare them back-to-back. Sony just sounds so muffled once you put on the B&W. Everyone talks about bass on Sony, but bass is PX7 strong point too, to the point where I had to tune it down. PX7 downside is that sometimes it has piercing highs, especially high hat cymbals. It was pretty fatiguing before I got used to it. Overall, PX7 clarity is just significantly superior to Sony.

I did in fact evaluate my priorities, and I decided that FOR ME, sound quality was the most important factor, and I knew I would be disappointed if I picked up the Sony. So I stuck with B&W, which FOR ME has been an amazing choice, since I have used it to listen at home, and am enjoying a level of clarity I have never heard in my other devices.

Note: I got both headphones last BF when they had pretty deep discounts for open box on Amazon. Each one was around the $250 range.

fantastic price for better sounding headphones than sony/bose. if anc is your top priority, go with sony/bose.
Which ones work best on long haul flights? Not just for crying babies and wear comfort, but also trying to get your head in a good position for sleep.

Not sure about sleep as all are bulky but sony is best anc and very light/comfy. They can break easily though so not sure about sleep.

Airpod pro's. Fall asleep with them in my ear all the time. I'm a side sleeper too. Never an issue.

You forgot the biggest difference: build quality. Bose are plastic heavy and feel cheap despite the premium cost, while these use superior materials and feel like $300+ headphones. These destroy both Bose & Sony in build quality, sound clarity, separation, and tuning.
What does build quality mean?

Bose headphones may feel cheaper but they are durable. I can't count the number of times my QC Ultra's have dropped and they still look mint after 2yrs.

I bought QC35s in 2017 that I gave away that still work perfectly.

The durability and reliability of their headphones will keep me with Bose forever.

You're probably better with in-ear since you can sleep on your ear. These will be a hindrance if you like the side of your side on a pillow, for example.

I mean all three should withstand the normal wear and tear of everyday use and the occasional drops etc. Most likely talking about the materials used in addition to sound quality and noise cancelling and fit. At the end of the day, you do you and feel good about it.

I have the Bose pair since 2018. Replaced the ear cushions 2x with Amazon cheap kit. Number of times I thought I broke them by falling asleep wearing them, or had them tossed folded into a weekend bag, numerous. They still work great.

Pleasantly surprised that they showed up immediately like since it originally said they would show up the second week of February. As with many other "factory recertified" things I've bought in the past, everything about these headphones looks, feels, and smells brand new. The build quality or at least the materials are of great quality. I say that because I've seen some reddit posts of Bowers & Wilkins headphones falling apart and the Amazon reviews for these Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 aren't stellar. The sound quality is good, I have high quality IEMs for reference, so I am glad that these live up to the hype in terms of sound quality, but more importantly power. I recently returned some JBL Tune 720BTs to buy these, and the problem I've had with the JBLs and other headphones in the past is that they don't get too loud, are muffled, and immediately shit the bed the moment you try to use the equalizer. The noise cancelling is fine, they don't hold a candle to Apple or other mainstream brands with the latest tech though. Just updated the firmware, so we'll also see how that goes.

They need to lower the prices of these overpriced gadgets. If they can't last that long then it shouldn't cost that much.

Looking forward to your review. I just got my Woot Beats and the fit is definitely too small for my larger ears, so they're going back.
