I have ordered a few of these, started out with 1 on a whim for an all white PC build. It isn't bright white like the build, but it added "white" to the monitor setup a touch. I was impressed and have since purchased a few more 2 packs because the quality- build and picture - is unbeatable for the price. Mine came in a plain bubble wrapped envelope, so if you need the retail boxed item, this likely isn't for you.

If you bought it on Woot and the condition was 'new' in the description you can contact Woot and they will easily refund you without returning.

Got a used like new one from Amazon for $9. Very impressed so far with the quality, up there with my Razer kiyo pro that I use for home office, at like 1/15th the price.

Killer Deal: Enterprise Quality for Generic Prices

This is a massive step up from the "no-name" Amazon webcams in the $20-$40 range. The Poly Studio P5 retailed for $129 at launch because it was built for enterprise pros, not just home casuals.

Why this is a "buy" at this price:
  • Optics: It features a genuine all-glass lens. Most cheap cams use plastic that gets cloudy or soft over time. This thing is sharp and handles low-light (like a dim office) significantly better.
  • The Hub Secret: It has a hidden USB-A port on the back. You can plug your mouse/keyboard dongle or even a second camera into it, saving a precious port on your laptop or Mac Mini.
  • Autofocus: At this price, most generic cams are "fixed focus" (blurry if you move). The P5 has fast, reliable autofocus—perfect if you want to use it as a document camera to show things up close on your desk.
  • FPS Reality Check: Don't get baited by "60 FPS" marketing on cheap cams. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet all cap video at 30 FPS anyway. You're getting the maximum possible quality these platforms allow.
  • The Mic: People complain it sounds "thin," but that's because it's a pro-grade directional mic. It's designed to ignore your kids or pets in the background and focus only on your voice. If you want a "radio" voice, buy a $100 mic; if you want your coworkers to actually hear you and not your house, use this.
Bottom Line: You're getting $120+ hardware for under $20. Grab two and use one for your face and one for a desk/demo view. Absolute steal.

Have 2 of these. One travels with me for work and the other is on my large monitor at home. Have no complaints, good picture quality, glass lense with a physical twist cover to turn it off. Standout feature is that the microphone on this is truly great, it almost feels like magic.

Buy it.

AI is a tool. I can summarize my thoughts in 2 minutes and save 45 minutes of editing. All the observations and comments are mine. I just use tools like Grammarly for the final formatting so it's easy for others to read.
It is like asking, "Why use a digital camera when you could use a canvas and a brush to capture an image?"
