I'm a little confused. I haven't bought a monitor in a long time, but was led to believe that outside of gaming and movies that OLED was dangerous. This being thing and for working, wouldn't it be bad to keep something like a document open for hours at a time? Burn in and what not.

You should be fine. OLED's are better today than years ago. Also think about the practical use here - you'd not have the same document open, in a static position, for 100's of hours right? The danger comes from REALLY long static images. Think about a bar that has ESPN or CNN open all day, every day. The ticker on the bottom would be the worry there. You'd never really use a laptop in this manner.
