If all someone wants to use this for just gaming, the monitor is fantastic. It will be less demanding than the 5K version and games look excellent. I owned this prior to upgrading to the 5k version, and HDR is actually better on this panel.

However, if someone wants to use the monitor for gaming and productivity, going for the 5k version is recommended. The 1440p has a ton of text fringing and I just couldn't get used to it. It's a shame that the HDR is a bit worse on the 5K version, and it drops the remote and built in media functions, but it is better in every other way.
