I'm sure there are people on Zen 4 who would move up to Zen 5 and so already have DDR5. Newegg has it for this price with a free Corsair mouse, if you think they'll still be shipping product pending Chinese government involvement with their business in the last couple days.

A few of us. Started with hunting for a decent deal on RAM, then hunting for a 5080fe, and now I'm buying the 9850x3d. Also, what your proposal, they just stop selling chips? 😂

Did that process take place over multiple years?

Me, because I need to for what I want to do.

Maybe someone is upgrading their CPU only. Micro Center had all sorts of cheap bundles over this last year with non-X3D CPUs included.

Same. And I wouldn't say it was cheap, but with bundle pricing from micro center and a lightly used graphic card from the local market, my 9800x3D build with 64gb ddr5 and a 4080 stayed under $2k. Worth every penny for the upgrade performance and remained competitive with the overall used market.
