Are you serious? For this same set? That seems too good to be true...

The lowest I could find it for on SD was in november 2023 for $25 from Target. The lowest in the last year on SD was $49.

If you want these, get them. MEGA lost their rights. Legos now hold the rights and we all know how expensive Legos brands are.

Figured, unsure if they'll drop much more than this or if the price will just go up from here.

My experience with MEGA sets are that they are a pain to build and do not stay together very well. Maybe that has changed, and this set does look nice, but I think I'll wait for the lego one to go on sale or for the next gen of the lego one to come out. Lego is expensive but they are a joy to build with. Knock-off legos, much less so.
All that being said 44% off is significant so for people that are in the market, good for them!

not sure when your experience is from, but you are pretty far off the mark for this line of sets. I built this Pika, Charizard, Gyrados, Charmander and a dozen or so smaller sets with my son. They are every bit on par with his lego sets. we will see when the lego sets actually release, but if you are buying for a pokemon fan these are highly recommended. i imagine there is also a reasonable chance that these sets become collectable now that they are fully out of production and are a huge per piece value.

Mega's pieces are not as good quality as Lego. Lego's pieces fit perfectly. However, I give props to Mega for willing to make unique pieces to make kits look good/accurate. I find Lego is less willing to make custom, one of a kind pieces.

I bought this set for my son when it was $25 and for that price it was a no brainer. He is 7 years old now and has been obsessed with Lego his entire life. This Pikachu set is pretty nice, but it's not as nice as Lego as far as quality goes. When we finally got it together the track that makes him run is a little janky and it can come apart pretty easily, which means you have to open it to get things back together properly. We also had an issue with the tail because in some spots it's barely held together, so I ended up having to glue it. For $58 I'd say it might be worth it.. but definitely not worth the full price.
