So not counting the YMMV coupon mentioned here: https://slickdeals.net/f/19140637-select-accounts-2-2-lb-lavazza-whole-bean-coffee-blend-super-crema-12-25-w-subscribe-save, the original price is slightly lower. I'm cancelling my earlier order and re-ordering for a whole $0.75 less.

I should get some. Climate change means I'll probably not get the chance in 10 years.

Not at our Costco last week. $7+.

Price discrimination is when firms are able to charge each individual customer the highest price that that customer will pay, per each unit. So what this looks like for coffee is that the some customers will walk into a B&M store and pick out the most recently roasted beans for their favorite brand, and pay whatever MSRP is on the sticker. Eventually as an aggregate batch of coffee beans ages, the store, and the distributor, has to actually move some product to make room for the next newest batch in order to keep those customers paying top dollar.

These beans would eventually end up on Amazon Resale as "near expiration date" if nobody buys them at this price.

What I am wondering is how that dynamic is interacting with the on and off again tariffs, right here and now. As customers, we really don't know what tariff rate was charged on which bag. But for accounting, it matters. A lot. I also have no idea what the seasonality of green bean imports looks like.

So, given that I'm seeing a $6.42/lb price for these, I use a burr grinder to make drip coffee but am not so fussy about beans as to ignore the price, I don't have any special attachment to the Lavazza Super Crema brand, and I have a stockpile of beans that cost less than $6.42/lb, is there some coming coffeepocalypse in March that will make me wish I bought these at this price? Or will I see another $5/lb deal in the next 30 days, or will I at least $6.42/lb sitting on the shelf at Costco?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that, especially without making espresso, my less-than-refined palate isn't going to be appreciative of buying this for the brandnameyness.

I got my order. Roasted date is November 2025 so it is about 2 months out.

Have you bought from BJs lately? I always got their Columbia whole bean...would stock up when there were coupons. 40oz bag is all the way up to $19.99 now! This is a good deal.

... maybe compared to Folgers. It's decent imo. But once you get something freshly roasted like a Black & White, it's hard to go back, this just tastes bitter and burned. Obviously the price of the freshly roasted coffee reflects that.

Don't most espresso coffees contain Robusta beans? That's what enhances the amount Crema during the extraction process.

While fresher may be better, I'm not sure how Lavazza Super Crema would taste burnt as it's very much a medium roast coffee and far from burnt during the roasting perspective.
