They do make me nervous. Having teeth on both sides does make it that much easier to injure yourself if you are a bit tired or distracted. And they are harder to transport a well due to being 2 sided. All that being said, I still use my Ryobas the most.
I may butcher these generalizations, but I'll give it a shot ...
Ryobas are have their obvious benefits. But their extra teeth can make longer cuts less clean or more difficult. If the cut is deep enough, the backside teeth come in contact with the wood and add friction.
Katabas are best for long/deep cuts. And these are better suited towards different blade or handle shapes since they don't need to function on both sides.
Dozuki saws are "back saws", meaning they have a ridged spin. This gives more control over you cuts. But the thick spine prevents you from cutting very deep. These saws are used for joinery where precision really matters, like cutting dovetails.
