The cable lengths listed in the table are informative and represent the practical lengths based on cable performance requirements.
There have existed 1.2m (4ft) certified 40/80Gbps cables on the market for a couple years now. A few 1.5m (4.9ft) cables have been certified in the last year. This cable is completely legitimate.
Community Reviews
This Cable Matters USB C cable stands out as a certified long run for high bandwidth and up to 240W charging, with community confidence that the 4.9 foot length is legitimate for USB4 80Gbps use. The cable is described as well made, reliable, and a good value for a name brand certified option, especially versus cheaper non certified alternatives. It is also framed as suitable for demanding setups like a 4K 160Hz monitor. The main caveat is certification confusion, since the listing shows USB IF verification and Thunderbolt compatible wording rather than a Thunderbolt logo or full Thunderbolt certification.
The cable can plausibly support 40Gbps and 80Gbps operation at longer lengths based on USB Type-C standard cable assembly guidance.
Cable Matters support provided TID 12667 and explained that licensing and certification involve another manufacturer while certification proceeds under their own USB VID.
The cable can be a practical option for high-refresh 4K monitor setups because returns are easy if it does not work.
The cable can be a better choice than cheaper non-certified USB4 options when tariffs raise the cost of alternatives.
The advertised 240W and high-end USB4 performance at 4.9ft can seem infeasible because passive USB4 length limits are often cited around one meter.
USB-IF certification visibility may be unclear because certification listings were seen for a 3.9ft cable but not for the 4.9ft version.
The listing's "Thunderbolt compatible" wording may not mean full Thunderbolt certification because the cable lacks a Thunderbolt logo and may not pass Thunderbolt's full test set.
Compatibility expectations between USB-IF verified USB4 and Thunderbolt hardware can be uncertain because USB-IF and Thunderbolt certification processes may differ in specimen selection.

You used to be able to look up reviews for Aliexpress cables to see which ones actually met the advertised spec to get them for a bit cheaper but prices have shot up with tariffs and whatnot so it's not really worth it for these USB 4v2/TB5 cables.
