These pliers don't slip or constantly loosen up like regular channel locks. Every part of the plier was built with a purpose.

What makes these worth so much more Channel Locks, or HF, or anyone else? I have no experience with this brand, but notice how expensive their products are.

They're far superior in durability.

That's pretty much it.

But to even get to that durability point, you have to be a plumber or someone who works in the trades.

An average person will never get enough value out of it to buy this over a regular channel locks set.

If you have the money to spare and want a buy it for life tool, just get the knipex.
If you're using it for random tasks here and there, HF and Channel Locks are more than fine. They're great brands and products.

These come with the older model of 10" (87 01 250) and not the newer with a longer handle and updated tip (87 51 180). Still the best water pump pliers out there, and if you want all three sizes. I brought the 87 51 180 in the 10-inch size and love it.

These are the pliers by which all other pliers are measured.

One of the things that electricians like about them are that they are narrower than most others which allows you to get 2 of them on a compression fitting easier.

Seriously - don't use these on anything you don't mean business with . . . you'll regret it.

I've used these as a final boss sort of plier. Have gotten the job done where other options failed or dug a deeper hole. Like others have mentioned, the "Cobra" naming is very appropriate because these will leave marks

I've got the 10" and it is a great tool. If you need all three, this is a good price. Otherwise, wait for one individually to go on sale (got mine for $27 but that was in 2021).

Good post. Top notch tools. But as mentioned, it's just overkill for someone who only uses them occasionally

They are absolutely not overkill but maybe having 3 sizes would be for some people lol. I use the 7" 95% of the time and barely touch the other sizes. Would normally agree with you about nearly any other tool but cobras are the exception. I use my cobras constantly, they cannot compare to any other pliers I have ever used

The harbor freight clones are not much cheaper than the real deal anyways and are a lot lower quality compared to Knipex.

Don't buy anything, but these. I was a pipe fitter and everything else is junk. That's $30 apiece. That's nothing. They will last most people a lifetime and they will never slipped to a different channel like channel locks no matter how much force you put on them and the jaws are thinner so they can get in between things better and they aren't as clunky. Also, just pushing down on them is what makes them bite and grip harder and harder. It's not How strong your grip is like others. Just buy them you won't regret it. They are the best.

Agreed 100% they are definitely not overkill! I don't care how much and how often you use them it's worth it. Never buy cheap shitty tools. Buy quality and buy once.
