The Harbor Freight ones are garbage. I have a bunch of them and a handful of the Irwin clamps. I always go for the Irwin ones when I need to do something. The Harbor Freight ones bend and don't hold nearly as well. I'm all for buying cheaper/generic versions of tools but in the case of these style clamps, there's no comparison.

great deal on these. Buying 2 more to supplant the 2 i've had for over 15 years. Theyre still working fine but i lost the pads and they cant be used as a spreader like these can.

Why would you want this? The general idea, yes, I own some. But the length of the bar has little effect on the cost, why would I want to buy such short ones?

Easier to store or longer bar not in the way, may be important for some.

I used mine to repair small electronics. Clamped screens to their housing.

I'm not seeing any claims on the harbor freight clamps for their clamping pressure. That'd be the primary difference I think. They're both reversible. Don't get me wrong, I'd use either and I'd probably buy harbor freight clamps and use 2-3 of them together rather than 1 Irwin at their prices.

Those are about 100-150 pounds of force whereas this Irwin is 300. The Breman from harbor freight is 375 pounds and is a closer comparison - also sells at $8.99 for the 6in

Irwin also makes cheaper light duty versions too. This is medium duty and quite solid.

Dewalt has a 2-pack for $11 at Home Depot so what's the advantage of this brand other than the high price?

Irwin and Dewalt are the same company. Just different branding/marketing.
