I'm really dissapointed in where Slickdeals has ended up

2,193 1,080 January 29, 2026 at 03:20 PM
When I discovered this site it was a bunch of people hunting deals and sharing them, it feels like those days are gone and it's turned into a place for generic Amazon products to be pushed by the staff. I used to refer people here every chance I got, it was a great place, I hate to see what it's become. New accounts created to push junk products and write fake reviews here just make it that much worse. It may be making more profits now, but I feel it's going to hurt the site in the long run.

Ya been that way for sometime. I came here after FW went belly up and is has gone down hill fast. I've tried other sites but they suck even more.

A lot of this isn't the fault of this site. Amazon has gradually become the leader in e-commerce
- to the extent that with most other sites, shipping makes shopping elsewhere pointless.

With fewer brick and mortar stores, the monopoly of Amazon, Target, and Walmart on
both retail and e-commerce, there just aren't as many deals. The quality will continue to get
worse too. It's just a sign of the times. I miss the great in store deals and freebies and having
survey companies send cash in the mail, but things have been changing for awhile. Time to
look ahead and not back.

I do not agree about the only Amazon part, Lowes has some killer deals right now on outdoor power tools.
Sam's Club had a great deal on a Bluey 12v ride on car. Amazon is the low hanging fruit but there are others. The site also makes it a bit harder to post some deals too.

I think the biggest issue is the lack of activity by SPAST

I can see how it appears I implied that, but it wasn't intentional. When I wrote this I had the "G Gradual" Amazon trash that they've been posting on my mind. For the last several months it's being spammed by new accounts that are obviously trying to push their products. Nothing wrong with companies giving slickdeals exclusive coupons and/or a heads up on a sale, but when it's 1) not even a deal and 2) being pushed by obvious shill accounts, that's crossing a line. I agree with LC2 that it's not as easy as it once was. Maybe that's what caused this downward spiral we're in now. I mostly made this post while reminiscing on the good ole days of stupid cheap deals and price mistakes. It sucks that it's gone, lol.

I'm personally just tired of seeing a small handful of accounts that I believe use web scrapers to find deals and blasting the site with them. It ruins the fun behind hunting for deals and trying to help others save money. It's become a contest between a few specific users to see who can post faster (and get those commissions).

I respectfully concur. And now I have a concurrence, and aspirin isn't doing squat for it.
