It's 90 days according to Microsoft customer service directly during a recent chat. You can google and get the same result. I wish it was a year.

edit: It's only 1 year if it's the controller that came with the console. individual controller purchases are 90 days.

Be sure to buy the extended warranty on any Xbox controller. I've gone through 5 controllers in 3 and a half years. And I'm a grown ass adult who doesn't mishandle his electronics. They're notorious for failing and that's why Microsoft only has a worthless 3 month warranty on them. You've been warned.

The warranty is 1 year. I've gone through a handful of them myself. All failed due to thumb stick drift despite taking very good care of them. Some during the warranty period and others past it. Wish they had a courtesy repair policy like how Nintendo has for the Switch.

I've warrantied a quite a few Xbox controllers over the last few years. When they tell me it's only 90 days, I challenge them by saying something like "aren't warranties supposed to be 1 year?" and it has worked every time. They say they are doing it "as a courtesy" for me. Wink

That's horrendous. I know in the past it was a year, but that could be because 2 of them came bundled with my xbox. Multi billion dollar company and they can't even stand behind this product beyond 90 days. Surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit.

It is horrible, on a related side note:

I've heard of people just buying new ones and returning the defective ones as the recently bought controllers. The person I heard mention this said they don't check serials on controllers.

I play Rocket League and Xbox gamepads are terrible. The sticks get drift just a few months after buying them (and I only play about once a week). Waiting for a sale to try Gamesir gamepads.

Get them at Target (with suggested $6 extended warr.) while you can, they're going quick!

That has never worked for me and I have one that is stick drifted pretty bad. I tried to even link old verbiage that said one year and they didn't care.

If you don't need wireless the 8bitdo with Hall effect triggers and sticks has been solid now for 3 months for me. I bought it black friday sale on amazon for 28 dollars. It is wired though and comes with like an 8 ft cord.

Lowered their warranty time because they know drifting will be a problem within a year. Trash product and they are sinking their own brand.
