This MSI Aegis ZS2 looks like strong value for a Ryzen 9 9900X, RTX 5070, 32GB DDR5, and 2TB build, especially as component prices for graphics cards, memory, and SSDs have climbed. The 9900X should leave plenty of CPU headroom for gaming, and the system has been reported to run smoothly when the advertised parts arrive. The main concern is refurb and fulfillment consistency, with reports of B840 boards or even lower-spec machines instead of the listed B650 and 9900X setup. A solid-looking package, but the hardware inside needs a careful check on arrival.

Common Questions (4)

  • At current component prices, the bundle is widely viewed as strong value: the RTX 5070 alone is cited around $550-$800, 32GB DDR5 6000 around $350 minimum, and a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD around $200-$300. The 9900X is more CPU than a 5070 needs for gaming, but it helps avoid CPU bottlenecks and keeps the system well balanced.

  • It can arrive with either a PRO B650-VC WIFI II or a B840 motherboard. The B650 matches the published spec sheet, while the B840 has been reported in some units and is not the same board for expansion or CPU support.

  • Yes. Buyers should verify the CPU, GPU, RAM, motherboard, and drive model on arrival, and check the shipping label and drive health because some units have reportedly shipped with downgraded parts or swapped components.

  • One reported issue is fan behavior: some units spin up randomly, and a PNY 5070/5070 Ti reference suggests certain Ventus-style cards can also have a high-pitched whistle at low RPM. BIOS and MSI Center tweaks may not fully quiet it down.

Yes this is a good deal relative to today's market. This is about what I paid for a skytech prebuilt with similar specs (though 9800X3D and only 1TB nvme) after CB sites. I'd be wary of refurb but for the price, it is a good buy imo. CPU is more workstation geared than gaming but I'd be absolutely amazed if you noticed anything.

For anyone that gets it, when received make sure connections are secure and fire it up. You 100% should make sure the CPU, GPU, and RAM match what is listed when you fire it up, since Woot is under amazon they may be selling amazon returns and many scammers swap parts and return to amazon because of their lax return policies. You can use some tools to check drive health and such but I'm guess the refurb part is because the item was shipped with a DOA part and it came back for replacement. Then maybe benchmark it and if it runs for a few days, you should be good.

you're thinking of a 5070 ti

Maybe these are all new MSRP but 2TB nvme was on here yesterday for $137.
thank you for this! snagged this deal and i'll pay closer attention now.

2 tb for 137? Maybe an older gen 3 or less. You wont find a gen4 2tb for less than 230

You can get a PNY 5070 from Walmart for $550 right now. The issue is Ram and now NVME shooting is up.
If it's anything like the PNY 5070ti, I wouldn't recommend it. The fans are loud and PNY will say it's normal. Even at their lowest RPM, it'll sounds like you hear crickets outside like it's summer. It's not the whooshing noise you would expect from slow fans. It's more of a higher pitch whistle, which is quite grating in a quiet room. Returned mine to Walmart. Look it up and you will see a lot of people with the same complaints.

I initially bought the 1199 one with 8700f without seeing this one but then cancelled and bought this one instead. For anyone complaining about the price, this is the best for this market and as per the reports, GPU prices hiked, Ram prices hiked, ssds have gone up.

Was putting a kit on Newegg with 9950x.. with motherboard 32gb memory and free aio cpu cooler I was looking at 1000+tax… so jumped on this last night since it has 5070 video card. I think 9700x will be enough with my home video/photo editing.. currently have 5590x

Your confusing "1 guy someplace got a great deal" with "anybody can get this deal." I've had several good deals on 2tb drives recently (189) and they've been cancelled. I managed to get others into my cart at Amazon, but wouldn't ship. 250 is the proper value for a decent 2tb today if you are pricing a build.

I received this PC today and they sent me a b840 motherboard instead of b650. B840 runs at half the speed of the b650 and won't allow you to overclock the CPU. it also has less M2 slots, less PCIE slots, less USB slots. I called MSI warranty and they said they can't even help me since my computer doesn't have parts matching the spec sheet and I'd need to contact Woot. I sent in a ticket to Woot today and waiting to see what happens.

When I googled this exact issue with this prebuilt, I found a reddit thread of someone who sent their tower in to RMA and they sent him back with an 840 instead of the 650 and they kept doing it to him.

Everyone that bought this needs to check their hardware when it arrives.

So an update to anyone actually reading this thread still who purchased this PC. I decided to talk to MSI support over chat and I asked them to tell me what parts were replaced during the factory reconditioning. I gave them my serial number, and MSI said their records only show the power cable was replaced. I asked what motherboard comes with the desktop, and they told me it's a b840. I said the spec sheet on their own website for this exact model says it's a b650. Support told me since it was factory reconditioned, it could've been swapped out. I said MSI warranty says they'll replace parts that are equal in performance, and that the b840 is substantially weaker than the b650. I was then referred to another support team and am waiting to receive an email in the next 24 hours. I'm wondering if I'll even get the email, but yeah.

Again, everyone that bought this, make sure you check your parts. The b840 IS NOT EQUAL to the b650.

The fact the motherboard swap wasn't even in the records, but was listed as the appropriate motherboard for this desktop, is wild. A faulty power cable? That's it? Really? And you take out the entire existing motherboard and swap in some cheapo POS? None of this makes sense unless you consider they wanted to keep the 650s from these machines.

I also have b840 motherboard as well. Sigh. Silver lining is that it has wifi 7. It is misleading what they're doing.. but for the price at this time I guess I'll just have to accept it
