Fine for the range, not so great anywhere else you want to know which direction a sound is coming from.
you'll still want the in ear foam too if you're thinking about the LRAD being used daily now.
Community Reviews
Walker's Tacti-Grip earmuffs are a strong range and shop hearing-protection pick, with clear voice amplification that still shuts down gunshots and other loud impulse noise quickly. They also work well for power tools, chainsaws, pneumatic nail guns, and even barking dogs, and the audio input supports add-on Bluetooth or walkie-talkie modules. The main drawback is that the microphones play in both ears, so the sound is essentially mono with no directional awareness. Fit can also be tight on larger heads, and cranking the volume can bring in static.
range shooters who want clear communication while still getting strong noise cancellation because commenters say they work really well at the range and that speaking to each other comes through clearly with the noise cancellation.
people buying earmuffs for firearms use at around the $20 price point because multiple commenters call it an easy buy at nearly $20 and say they've been very happy with the value versus what they paid for worse ear protection.
home DIYers using loud power tools like chainsaws or pneumatic nail guns because commenters report using them for power tools/chainsaw and that they work really well for loud pneumatic nail guns.
owners who need to hear voices/natural sounds while blocking rapid loud impulses because one commenter explains the built-in amplifier boosts human voices and natural sounds while blocking gunshots and other loud sounds very rapidly.
hunters who rely on situational awareness and sound direction because commenters say the microphones play essentially mono (no directional audio), making it a no-go for hunting since you can't tell which direction sounds are coming from.
people who want directional audio for turning toward where a sound is coming from because commenters note the lack of directional audio makes it hard to know which direction to turn when others are talking or when you're trying to locate sounds.
buyers with a big head because one commenter says the earmuffs squeeze their head badly and advises not to buy it if you have a big head.
users who need battery-free operation for extremely loud environments because a commenter asks whether they work without batteries for a gym-like setting, implying uncertainty about battery dependence for that use case.
people who want to avoid static at higher volume because one commenter reports there's a lot of static when the volume is cranked up.
anyone who drops gear and wants durable sound protection because a commenter says the earmuffs are all plastic and that a single good drop could degrade the sound protection.
