Fine for the range, not so great anywhere else you want to know which direction a sound is coming from.
you'll still want the in ear foam too if you're thinking about the LRAD being used daily now.
Community Reviews
Walker's Tacti-Grip earmuffs are a strong range and shop hearing-protection pick, with clear voice amplification that still shuts down gunshots and other loud impulse noise quickly. They also work well for power tools, chainsaws, pneumatic nail guns, and even barking dogs, and the audio input supports add-on Bluetooth or walkie-talkie modules. The main drawback is that the microphones play in both ears, so the sound is essentially mono with no directional awareness. Fit can also be tight on larger heads, and cranking the volume can bring in static.
Common Questions (5)
They use 2 hi-gain omnidirectional microphones that play in both ears, so the audio is essentially mono with no directional sound. That makes them fine for the range, but less useful for hunting or any situation where you need to tell which way a sound is coming from.
Yes. They have been used with power tools, chainsaws, and loud pneumatic nail guns and were described as decent to working really well. They are tuned for rapid suppression of loud impulse noise, so they can work in a shop even though they are marketed for firearms.
Yes, they still provide passive hearing protection without batteries. The electronic amplification adds voice and ambient sound awareness, but the muffs themselves continue to block noise even when powered off.
They can squeeze hard on a larger head. The cups are all plastic, so fit and durability can be an issue if they get dropped or if the headband pressure is already tight.
Yes. The $21 price appears after clicking "Other Sellers," and it is still sold and shipped by Amazon, though the delivery window may be several weeks out.
