For anyone wondering, this was 579.99 during the holidays. It bumped up to $650 a couple weeks ago. Still not an awful deal considering the x3d is near $400 by itself. You're probably better off reusing your nvme if you already have one though.

This has happened several times in the past decade unfortunately for storage and GPUs due to crypto.

Even better, when I was buying them (one at a time) for customer builds, this was $479.99, in '24. They have been scaling up price on the 7800X3D to make the price of the 9800X3D and now 9850X3D seem less worse, it was $250 last fall. They had even jacked up the price on the CPU / motherboard combo without DDR5 they tried briefly, so before the RAM grift.

Is the 9850x3d worth the $100 bucks over this price ? for a X870mobo and newer cpu ?

In August for 599 it was the same motherboard, a 9800x3d, and the 32gb of ram was G Skill FlareX5 with slightly better timings than this Corsair set...

Glad I chose to upgrade in August for my wife and I! - It has been slim pickings since then...

Some years ago at bf, this or a similar combo was for $450. Somehow, this is still a very decent deal for this.

I just checked my receipt. I paid $469 before tax for a similar combo Black Friday 2023. As part of the bundle the RAM was listed at $69. Actual price for a separate purchase was higher, I'm sure...but now that same RAM (G.SKILL 32G) is at $429 on its own. That is truly nuts.

For the price, the RAM timings aren't even that attractive either. Since there's a X3D chip included w/ the bundle that at least helps make up for that deficit.

no, probably not for most folks TBH but its the latest. I was in the same boat last year deciding between 98x3d and 78x3d with a ~$100 difference, maybe slightly less...decided on 98x3d, cause how often do u buy a CPU. few games i notice a bit of a difference between the two? (have 78x3d in my other kids build, my old build). But it made me feel better for a while knowing it was the latest/greatest till the 9850x3d lol
