The TCL QM7K is being framed as a strong value 75 inch mini LED TV, with noticeably better picture and color than cheaper sets and solid picture quality for around $1,000. The latest firmware and Google TV platform add to the appeal, and the current price has been sitting near this level for a while, with a possible 10 percent back offer through Prime cards. The main hesitation is that some would rather step up to the QM8K or an OLED for more brightness and refinement, and TCL reliability and panel uniformity concerns still linger. A compelling midrange pick if you want big screen performance without moving into premium pricing.
average consumers who are willing to spend a little time tweaking picture settings themselves because commenters say most TVs look "horrendously bad out of the factory" and that applying RTINGS-style calibration guidance is enough improvement over out of the box for the average consumer.
people upgrading from a cheaper TV who care about noticeable picture and color differences because the owner says the difference is definitely noticeable versus cheaper models and calls it great value.
owners who want to keep the TV's software flexible for apps because one commenter notes Google TV can run Android apps/APKs (even if not in their stores), which matters for certain apps compared with Roku's app-store limitation.
buyers comparing 75-inch options under $1,000 who are deciding whether to jump from a ~65-inch set because one commenter is specifically considering pulling the trigger on a 75-inch under $1,000 after looking at a ~$600 65-inch alternative.
people who expect "true calibration" with professional-grade results because commenters warn that even using RTINGS settings is not actually calibrating and that real calibration requires expensive tools and deeper adjustments.
buyers who are sensitive to panel uniformity and long-term reliability risk because one commenter reports two TCL units with panel uniformity issues and says the second failed after about one year, advising against spending ~$1000 on TCL/Hisense and recommending LG/Sony instead.
shoppers who mainly watch in very bright sunlight because another commenter says the OLED (e.g., LG C5) is still better unless you absolutely need to watch TV under the sun.

The problem is that most TV buyers are ignorant of how to calibrate a TV! Most Tvs are horrendously bad out of the factory. Rtings.com is great on how to calibrate a TV out of the box. It's not difficult to do. My son complained about a tv he bought, and when I told him to go to this website and calibrate, he was amazed at the difference!
