The TCL QM7K is being framed as a strong value 75 inch mini LED TV, with noticeably better picture and color than cheaper sets and solid picture quality for around $1,000. The latest firmware and Google TV platform add to the appeal, and the current price has been sitting near this level for a while, with a possible 10 percent back offer through Prime cards. The main hesitation is that some would rather step up to the QM8K or an OLED for more brightness and refinement, and TCL reliability and panel uniformity concerns still linger. A compelling midrange pick if you want big screen performance without moving into premium pricing.

At the 8's price point you might as well go ahead and get an OLED like an LG B5 or similar.
8 is priced against c5, but c5 is still better unless you absolutely need to watch TV under the sun

where do you see 10% back with prime cards? I don't see that option
Immediately under the price on the item page. If you don't have a Prime Store/VISA Card, it might not show.

Is it the best tv under $1000 at the moment for 75"? Was looking one around $600 and find 65", might pull the trigger for this

Best Buy Open Box good $821 and 5 year protection $189, is essentiall the same price, if you don't mind trading open box for extra warranty.

I own the qm8k and love it. But the qm7k is the best picture quality per dollar if you don't need the extra brightness, dimming zones, and thinner bezels of the qm8k.

Both are levels above comparably priced Sony, LG, Samsung counterparts.

Damn you Slickdeals.... Pulled the trigger on this one, seems like a great TV and will be a nice upgrade to my 2018 TCL 65R617. I am curious if anyone has any comments about the Google OS, I have only ever used Roku and Fire.

I currently have a 65in LG OLED with some burn-in issues. I have my heart set on the QM8K. I saw it in-store and wanted it right away. Haven't seen the 7 in person. How comparable is it to the 8?

I have the 65r617 also. Still looks and works like brand new. I have always just used devices and whatever OS came along with it. Don't mind Roku at all, but it has 1 big disadvantage against Google OS and FireTv OS. Roku cannot run any app that is not in their app store. The other 2 can basically run any Android app or APK, even if not in their app stores. Several interesting apps concerned here.
I bought a Google TV(Hisense) for the bedroom about a year ago but until then used FireTv sticks for years because of the mentioned advantage. So that's what I use mostly because that's what I'm used to.
But again, besides that 1 "side loading" advantage, nothing else to really love or hate about any OS, for me.

Do you guys think it might get even cheaper when the 2026 models start hitting the shelves later this month - early March? I want a bigger TV for the FIFA World Cup in June, so I am basically not in a hurry...

Except that even using Rtings settings is not actually calibrating. That's just changing settings. Actual calibrating requires expensive calibration tools that go deeper into the TVs settings and allow more advanced adjustments. When you go lower on any Rtings page, it shows a pre-calibration and post-calibration score. Those scores aren't reflective of just changing your TV's settings to Rtings' settings. Those scores after professionally doing a deep dive into the TV with a calibration tool. Changing the basic settings is definitely something everyone should do, but it's not the same thing as calibrating. If you have a nice TV, it's worth it to get professional calibration.
I've never been willing to pay for a true professional calibration, but agree that adjusting out of the box settings is a must for any TV.
Also, if you have a quality Blu-Ray attached to your set (no sure thing nowadays) you can buy a disc that includes some of the basic calibration screens that pros use to at least see how far off your set is. If you are really brave (this is not a recommendation!) you can google your way into the service menus for some tweaking.

I wouldn't recommend spending $1000 on TCL or Hisense. Bought a TCL back in 2020 seeing overhyped reviews. First one had panel uniformity issues.. after lot of struggle, i got replacement. Second one also had same issue but better than 1st one. But it gave up just after one year. Don't fall for recommendation from reviewers. They personally never buy these for themselves. Get a better brand like LG or Sony. If you are able to spend $1000 on tv then spend more and get OLED from LG. Its almost 6 years and my LG still works without any issues.

Thanks for sharing, I am a little surprised that you had so many issues. I've owned my TCL since 2018, it's an amazing TV with a great picture. When people ask me what brand, I always lead with TCL based on my experience with them. My friends and family that bought them also love them. I agree that the LG OLED Tv's are amazing but that is also different technology and comparing apples to oranges. An LG OLED at 75" would be creeping up on $2000. I would like to see a similar priced/tier TCL like the QM9k series side by side with an LG.
