If I already have a 11800H with a RTX 3070 and 32GB DDR4, besides the screen obviously, is this a significant upgrade?

Probably not significant but an upgrade none the less. The 8GB VRAM on the GPU and 16GB on this is what I think is lacking but will still perform well enough for a gaming laptop. Pushing this onto an external monitor is probably where it would struggle but off the laptop itself should run most games decent

If you're ok with the performance, I would say stick with it and save the money. If you're looking for frame gen, I'd look into Lossless Scaling on Steam first. I understand the want for an upgrade, but I'm all about being more money conscious first, especially in this economy. 3070 is still capable and not quite old enough to warrant an upgrade, at least in my opinion.

I went from a Asus Zephyrus G14 with 3060 to the Legion 7i with 5070 and I'm happy. Frame gen is a game changer.

However, the Pro version is unnecessary with a 5070 IMO. I would either get the lighter thinner non pro with same specs or step up to a 5070 TI to make it worth the additional bulk.

Might also be worth stepping up to 32gb ram, with the current shortages and crazy aftermarket prices. I paid about $1500 (before cash back) for the more premium 7i with the higher tier Ultra 9 275HX, same 5070, and 32GB DDR5 last October. The ram upgrade alone would cost an additional $200+ on the market today.

+1 Yes the OLED is fantastic, 500 nits super dark blacks.

I've been using my Legion quite a bit to get my money's worth!

So I was in a similar spot to you. Had a Legion Pro 5 with a 3070 and a 5800H. I was expecting to want to upgrade around next Christmas, maybe a year from now. I moved that up to now though because while a 3070 to a 5070 wasn't a HUGE jump, I knew I would need something in a year, and with the supply issues and ram issues, I wasn't interested in buying in a year when every prebuilt system's price has adjusted for the new ram pricing. My Legion 5 cost 1200~ and the 32 GBs of ram alone on the secondary would be 350. Absolute nonsense.

Also the new oled screens are incredible. Also seconding the person who mentioned the non pro with a 5070. 4.4 lbs 15.1" Oled and only the non pros have rear power this round with Legion.
